Race Report

A disappointing qualifying session saw stuart struggling with understeer and only 12th on the grid. However, a great start saw him up to 7th by the end of the first lap as Jon Bender and Zsolt Baumgartner clashed and fell to the back of the field.

Formula Vauxhall Junior champion Antonio Pizzonia took the lead and pulled slowly away from Chris Clarke who was under pressure from Rob Austin and Tomas Scheckter for most of the race. Stuart passed Jean De Pourtales and Matteo Bobbi to move up to fifth and was slowly closing on the fourth place man when the red flags came out on lap 13.

The incident which stopped the race involved Stuarts team mate Jeremy Harford, who was lying 3rd in the BARC class, and Jean De Portales. De Portales passed Harford into Paddock and then moved across too early, his left rear riding over Jeremy's right front and launching both into the tyre wall, fortunately without injury.
