With 30 cars entered, the short Indy circuit at Brands would be crowded - and so it was. On only his second quick lap, Stuart got out of shape catching slower traffic at Surtess, flew the kerb and attacked the tyre wall backwards. Shaken but not badly hurt he climbed out of the car just in time to witness Matthew Slinn do exactly the same thing and slam into Stuart's Tatuus! The result was three corners missing from Matts car and severe damage to the right rear of ours!
In the pits it didn't look to bad at first, just a new right rear corner to fit! However, once the damage to the exhaust manifold, oil pipes and gear linkage was found it became apparent the car wouldn't run again that day.
Meanwhile, Nick Dudfield fought his way through the traffic to take pole in his newly acquired Tatuus RC96. Nick made no mistake from pole and by lap 14 he had lapped almost half the field, such was the performance diferential between front and back.
So, with fastest lap as well, Nick moves into the championship lead and Stuart falls back to third. And there are only 4 days to sort out the car before the next round at Pembrey!
See you there.
Race Results 14 laps.
