
As Stuart got faster it became clear pole was between him and Nick Dudfield, with Nick's track experience making the difference by just 3 tenths. Next up was Elliot Lewis, 7 tenths further back but surprise of the session was Anthony Dunn who could only manage 6th, over 2 seconds down on Nick's time!
With two truck races immediately before ours, main concern was how much grip there would be at the first corner. Stuart and Nick made reasonable starts but Elliot shot past both off the line to take the lead into Redgate - and loose it on the slippery exit! Meanwhile, Stuart passed Nick on the entry to Redgate and an autocrossing Elliot on the exit to take the lead.
After watching Elliot take to the grass on lap 1, Stuart braked earlier than usual for Redgate and Nick slipped through on the inside, running wide on the exit but avoiding the grass to demote Stuart to second. Meanwhile, Anthony had moved past Elliot to claim third some two second adrift of the leading pair.
As the race progressed, Nick pulled out a small lead as he, Stuart and Anthony traded fastest laps. With two laps to go, Stuart had pulled well clear and had Nick firmly in his sights but there were too few laps left and he had to settle for second just 3tenths down.
Anthony fell back in the closing stages of the race with Elliot in fourth and Paulo Rizzi-Isper a distant fifth.
