BARC Formula Renault Championship
Round 8
Pembrey - 17 August 1997

Race Report

Never having seen the circuit before, we arrived at Pembrey with little setup information and just two half hour sessions to sort the car and driver - this was going to be a challenge!

Nevertheless, Stuart managed fourth on the grid and gladly accepted third at the start when Charles Hall's Tatuus broke a drive shaft. With Nick Dudfield in close attendance, Stuart matched times with Matt Bettley and Peter Clarke for the first 5 laps before beginning to pull away from Nick.

However, a tardy backmarker at Hatchetts hairpin lost him any chance of catching the leaders before the race was red-flagged on lap 10. Positions were declared as at the end of lap 9, much to the annoyance of Matt Bettley, who was biding his time on Peter Clarke's tail. Matt Baldacci took the 1700 class win, despite being passed by Marc Cramer on lap10!

Next race is at Donington Park on the 24th of August - see you there!

Race Results - 9 laps, 13.10 miles.
